Galleon Ent. Greenlights Animated Apollo's Pad

U.K.-based Galleon Ent. has greenlit production of the first TV series of its all-new animated property APOLLO'S PAD. APOLLO'S PAD (26x5), produced in association with Sony BMG, takes classic music tracks and by adding humor and animation to reach a new target audience for animation of young people, 16-24.

Each episode features two minutes of gag-based comedy followed by an animated music video, which features a classic hit re-recorded to reach a new audience, produced by Grammy award-winning producer, Brian Rawlings, of U.K.-based Metrophonic Studios, know for a track record of No. 1 hits. The first episodes feature the songs, "I'm a Believer," the classic Monkees hit, as well as, "War" and "Money." The episodes are set in an animated live music venue, Apollo's Pad, where each character is the personification of a music genre. Episodes follow the adventures of the king of disco dudes, club manager Hudson and the bunch of music-loving maniacs that work and perform in Apollo's Pad.

The comedy/animation series employs what Galleon Ent. describes is a breakthrough animation technology to revitalize everyone's favorite songs in a way that can be broadcast on TV as well as online and on mobile platforms. A content rich website, apollospad.com, that will provide streaming, premium downloads and user generated content is set for October 2007.

The series that has the format of THE MUPPETS show with the humor of THE SIMPSONS, is certain to be a hit among the viewers."

APOLLO'S PAD was created by Green and Len Dunne, md of Galleon Holdings. The series is being produced by London-based Good Story Prods., whose writing team includes Chris Brown (South Park and Friends), with animation from Canada-based Copernicus Studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The music is being produced by Brian Rawlings of Metrophonic Studios, well known for his chart topping production work with Cher ("Believe"), Enrique Iglesias ("Hero") and many others. The first six episodes have gone into production.
