Frederator Moving Into 2D Features

Frederator Studios is now branching out into 2D genre features with the launch of Frederator Films, according to VARIETY. Frederator head Fred Seibert will produce the films with animation vet Kevin Kolde and talent management head/producer Eric Gardner. The films will be budgeted under $20 million.

First off for the new studio will be a feature rendition of Cartoon Network's SAMURAI JACK, which creator Genndy Tartakovsky will write and direct. Another film on the slate is THE NEVERHOOD based on the DreamWorks videogame. The clay-animated film will be written and direct by the game's creator Doug TenNapel. The third project is a hip-hop themed production called THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS, which will feature the voice of boxing promoter Don King.
