Frankel To Head Stargate Digital Post-Production

Industry vet Darren Frankel joins visual effects company Stargate Digital as vp in charge of post-production. He will supervise Stargates daily post-production operations, including editorial, artist hiring, facility management and scheduling. Stargate (www.stargatefilms.com) recently did 200 effects shots for USA Networks HELEN OF TROY mini-series and creates effects for such highly-rated television series as CSI, CSI: MIAMI, ER, THIRD WATCH and CROSSING JORDAN.

Frankel was associate producer on such made-for-television movies as TNTs CALL ME CLAUS and CBSs THE LINDA MCCARTNEY STORY. He was also post-production supervisor on the CBS mini-series PERFECT MURDER, PERFECT TOWN. Earlier credits include post-production supervisor on such pictures as HBOs GOTTI and The Gurin Companys ALL NEW THREES A CROWD.

Frankel headed post-production at ABC Pictures from 1996 to 1998, where he hired editors, composers, sound mixers and special effects teams, as well as selected the facilities and equipment. He was executive in charge of post-production on Stephen Kings STORM OF THE CENTURY and Tom Clancys NETFORCE. During his tenure, Frankel significantly revamped the department and creatively altered the way in which movies were edited, scored, mixed and completed, giving ABC a more efficient, cost-effective system.

Previously Frankel was manager of post-production and associate producer at NBC Studios from 1989 to 1995. Frankel was a creative force in both production and post-production, ensuring the proper look, style and tone of the movies, as well as supervising art direction, wardrobe and locations, culminating in the final mix of each film. Frankel also did a stint with Aaron Spelling as an associate producer from 1987 to 1989.
