Unexpectedly, Fox Broadcasting Co. entertainment president Gail Berman will ankle her post at network to become a top creative player at Paramount Pictures under newly appointed chairman/ceo Brad Grey, reports the trades. The details of her new post have not been released.
In a statement, the studio said, "Paramount Pictures is in discussions with Gail Berman for a senior creative role at the studio. We hope to conclude the discussions shortly."
Rumors have her overseeing the creative direction of Paramount film development in addition to its sister Viacom firms, MTV Films and Nickelodeon Movies. much like Sherry Lansing did for the studio. This will most likely change the role of Paramount vice chairman Donald De Line and may spur a housecleaning at the company.
In addition, Dimension Films co-president Brad Weston is in negotiations with Paramount and would join the company as a co-president of production alongside exec vp production Allison Brecker Shearmur.
Berman has shepherded such hit TV series as BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE and 24. Additionally, she has relationships with filmmakers like BUFFY creator Joss Whedon and Imagine Ent. partner Brian Grazer.
