Fox Goes Old School with Ice Cube Produced Toon

Fox, Ice Cube and FUTURAMA co-creator David X. Cohen have teamed on an animated series about an early 1980s hip-hop crew, titled GRANDMASTER FREAK & THE FURIOUS 15, reports VARIETY. The idea was formed by Cohen, who will produce the series through Ice Cube and producing partner Matt Alvarez's Cube Vision Prods with Alvarez and Cube serving as exec producers.

Set in Englewood, New Jersey where Sugar Hill Records was formed in 1982, the show will follow 17-year-old high school student Grandmaster Freak and his humorously large rap posse. Ice Cube will most likely provide a voice, but not the lead. Cube Vision hopes to find voice actors who can act. Rap music with an old school vibe will be feature prominently in the series.
