San Francisco, CA (August 11, 2009) - - FotoKem, one of Hollywood's most established post production facilities, has made a significant investment in the Northern California media community with its acquisition of Spy Post, a San Francisco company known for its work in commercial and feature film post production. The investment represents a natural addition for FotoKem as it steps further into the creative realm and continues to stay at the head of the technological curve by perfecting new file-based workflows, digital intermediate pipelines, and services for new camera technologies.
The two companies will leverage strong technological infrastructures with time-tested industry expertise. As part of its venture and with the addition of key personnel, FotoKem has launched a new Visual Effects business unit, housed within the newly expanded Spy Post facility. Industry professionals will be able to choose from a complete menu of preproduction, production and post production services, including visual effects and design for commercials and feature films.
According to FotoKem's Senior VP of Strategic Planning, Mike Morelli, "This is a logical step in the expansion of our business. We can now have more of a direct relationship with our clients in Northern California, as well as offer decades of vfx experience to our existing client base across the country.
All of FotoKem's services will be accessible in San Francisco, available either in-house or through the high speed connection to FotoKem's main campus in Burbank. This includes FotoKem's global data management, nextLAB, stereo digital intermediate services and technologies, and of course, the film lab and post production services. Renovations to the current Spy Post facility, and the installation of the first commercially available stereoscopic DI theatre in San Francisco, will begin immediately.
