Forest Whitaker Drinks Up Dewmocracy Game

Forest Whitaker has partnered with Pepsi-Cola North America to produce a web game titled DEWMOCRACY, that will result in a consumer-generated beverage innovation. Whitaker developed the virtual world, plot, characters and mini-games. Additionally, he helmed a live-action short that serves as an intro to the game.

In the game that launches this week, players are rewarded after completing various challenges with color, flavor and label graphics to make their own Mountain Dew drink. In February, three flavors will be presented to consumers to vote on, with the winning flavor hitting shelves in July.

Matti Leshem's online concepts incubator Protagonist came up with the original idea for DEWMOCRACY. The company also created the CASINO ROYALE and THE WATER HORSE websites.

Tony Bui wrote the script for the game, which is also meant to encourage voting in the next U.S. presidential election. Illusion Arts' Syd Dutton created the matte paintings and game designs.
