Focus Kicks Ass Internationally

Focus Features Intl. has picked up the rights to Matthew Vaughn's KICK-ASS, reports VARIETY.

Focus Features Intl. has picked up the rights to Matthew Vaughn's KICK-ASS, reports VARIETY. Focus will release the film in the U.K., Australia, Germany, Latin America, Austria, and Switzerland. Additionally, Focus will put the film in New Zealand theaters through Universal Pictures Intl. Lionsgate will release the film in the U.S. on April 16, 2010.

Based on Mark Millar's comic series, the story follows a teenage boy who decides to become a real-life masked crime-fighter. The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Mark Strong.

Vaughn’s Marv Films funded the flick. He produced the film with Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner’s Plan B. Vaughn, Pitt, Kris Thykier, Adam Bohling, David Reid and Tarquin Pack are producers. Pierre Lagrange, Stephen Marks, Mark Millar, John S. Romita and Kleiner exec produced. Vaughn also co-wrote the script with Jane Goldman.
