Filmtecknarna & Moneyshots Take F/X VMAs

On Aug. 29, 2004, MTV handed out its annual Video Music Awards, giving Filmtecknarna and Moneyshots big wins for visual effects. Moneyshots took home the top visual effects prize for its work on OutKasts HEY YA vid. Filmtecknarna celebrates for its work highlighted in the Breakthrough Video winner, Franz Ferdinands TAKE ME OUT.

Elad Offer and Chris Eckardt, founders of the visual effects and animation studio Moneyshots, were on hand in Miami to accept the Moonman statuette. The technically demanding video, in which Outkast's Andre 3000 plays multiple roles, was shot over two days at Universal Studios on a stage styled to look like a television studio circa 1960.

"We are thrilled to have the efforts recognized with a VMA Award," said Offer, who served as creative director. "This project took a large group of people working around the clock to make it look seamless. The video was brilliantly conceived by the director and producer, and featured a tremendously talented band. That made it an ideal visual effects project."

Filmtecknarna created the animation for TAKE ME OUT, which was inspired by the Dada movement that uses photomontages. Jonas Odell, who directed the video, took home the prize.
