Warner Bros. has purchased two projects from playwright Chris Boal, reports Variety.

The first is a Viking tale titled THE VANGUARD, which follows two Viking brothers trying to work their way back to Sweden following their banishment to North America. Alexander Skarsgard (TV's TRUE BLOOD) is set to star and would make his producing debut on the film.

Atlas Ent. brought the project to Warners and its Charles Roven and Richard Suckle will also produce. Andy Horwitz and Jake Kurily, who brought the project to Atals, will produce in some way as well. Jon Berg and Chris Gary are shepherding for WB.

The second project is the story of Roman general Julius Caesar. Jonathan Liebesman (BATTLE: LOS ANGELES) is attached to direct. Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk is producing.
