TriStar Pictures has announced that it will be putting the animated feature THE TRUMPET OF THE SWAN into theaters for a limited release on May 11, 2001. Based on the novel by E.B. White, the film follows the adventures of Louie, a mute trumpeter swan who takes extraordinary steps to compensate for his lack of voice. The film features an all-star cast including Jason Alexander (TVs SEINFELD, ROCKY & BULLWINKLE), Mary Steenburgen (NOAH'S ARK, WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE?), Reese Witherspoon (ELECTION, CRUEL INTENTIONS), Seth Green (TVs BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, AUSTIN POWERS), Carol Burnett (THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW) and Joe Montegna (THE LAST DON, UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL). SWAN is directed by Richard Rich (THE FOX AND THE HOUND, THE BLACK CAULDRON, THE SWAN PRINCESS) and Terry L. Noss (producer, THE SWAN PRINCESS), from a screenplay by Judy Rothman Rofe. The film was originally intended as a direct-to-video release and will still hit video later this summer.
