While weekend estimates had ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS and TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN both at $42.5 million, box office actuals give the title to TRANSFORMERS with $42.3M.

The animated ICE AGE 3 (Fox) still earned the largest opening ever for an animated film on a Wednesday, doing $41.7M over the weekend and $66.7M in total.

TRANSFORMERS 2 (Paramount/DreamWorks, vfx by ILM and Asylum VFX, Digital Domain, Kerner Optical and Proof) has done $293.4M in two weeks, but dropped more than 60 percent from its opening.

Opening in third was Michael Mann's drama PUBLIC ENEMIES (Universal, CafeFX, Pixel Playground) with a decent $25.37M. In total, its five-day debut earned $40.1M.

Disney's romantic comedy THE PROPOSAL (vfx by Brickyard VFX) hung in there for a third week, dropping to fourth place with $12.9M and a total gross of $94.3M.

Fifth place went to Warner Bros. comedy THE HANGOVER with $11.3M, which crossed the $200 million mark this weekend and now stands at $205.03M.

Disney-Pixar's UP placed sixth with $6.5M and in six weeks out has made $264.8M.

MY SISTER'S KEEPER (Warner Bros., vfx by Matte World Digital) came in seventh place (down from fifth last week) with $5.79M and $26.5M in total.

Sony's THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3 (vfx by Asylum VFX and Eye-Spy Productions) went down just one place to eighth with $2.5M. In four weeks it's made $58.5M.

YEAR ONE (Sony, vfx by Hammerhead Productions) beat Fox's NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN (another battle too close to call) for ninth place with $2.3M. NIGHT ended up in tenth place with $2.04M (vfx by CafeFX, Dac Studios, Giant Studios, Image Engine Design and Pixel Playground).

In animated features, MONSTERS VS. ALIENS (Paramount, DreamWorks Animation) made another $251,000 and in 15 weeks has brought in $196.553M.
