Summit Entertainment has bought the rights to the upcoming FRANKENSTEIN-prequel book, THIS DARK ENDEAVOR: THE APPRENTICESHIP OF VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN, reports ComingSoon.net. Kenneth Oppel wrote the tome, which is part of a planned series. Karen Rosenfelt (THE TWILIGHT SAGA) is set to produce.

In the story, a young Victor Frankenstein sets out, with his friends Elizabeth and Henry, to find the ingredients to an elixir that can save the life of his ill, twin brother Konrad.
