Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have been hired by Warner Bros. to write ROBOTECH, an adaptation of the anime classic, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Tobey Maguire is attached to star, and is producing with Akiva Goldsman, Chuck Roven and Drew Crevello.

ROBOTECH was a cartoon series from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Productions. Three Japanese anime series were re-edited and re-dialogued to give producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series in the 1980s.

The sci-fi epic series followed humans using giant robots to fend off an alien invasion. Lawrence Kasden wrote a previous draft of the adaptation. WB is working to keep the project moving, and Gough and Millar are familiar with the genre, having run SMALLVILLE for seven years. They also worked on THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR and SPIDER-MAN 2.
