Sony Picks Evil Dead Date
Sony has selected a release date for the remake of THE EVIL DEAD, reports Shock Till You Drop. The Fede Alvarez-directed flick will hit theaters on April 12, 2013.
Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell are producing. Alvarez also co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues, which has a rewrite from Diablo Cody. The story follows five friends who discover the Book of the Dead at a cabin in the woods and unleashed hell on Earth.
FilmDistrict's Lia Buman and Ghost House's Nicole Brown and J.R. Young are shepherding the project. Ghost House's Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane are the exec producers.
Sony will distribute the film worldwide except in the U.K. and France.
