SHUTTER ISLAND writer Laeta Kalogridis has sold his pitch for a live-action remake of the Serbian animated short, TECHNOTISE; EDIT AND I, to Legendary Pictures, reports HEAT VISION. She will receive low-seven-figures to pen the script.

The toon takes place in 2074 in Belgrade where a struggling art student receives a chip implant so she won't have to study. Turns out to be a bad move.

Rae Sanchini will produce with Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.

Scott Glassgold and Raymond Brothers acquired the remake rights to the toon last year. Later they hired Jaron Pitts, the visual effects artist/media director who gained Internet fame for his fake GREEN LANTERN trailer, starring Nathan Fillion, to create a similar fake trailer for a live-action TECHNOTISE.

Glassgold, Brothers and Kalogridis are all exec producing. Warner Bros. will release the film.
