Finnish game creator Rovio is working on developing its popular iPhone and iPad game ANGRY BIRDS into other media, such as TV, movies, toys and comics, reports VARIETY. Any spinoff into another medium would be the first for mobile games. Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Mobile, told VARIETY that he would prefer any animated adaptation being done in stop-motion like Aardman produces.

In the game, a flock of birds use slingshots to fight off a gang of pigs that have stolen their eggs.

The title has become a worldwide hit, having sold 6.5 million downloads thus far. The franchise is expected to expand to other mobile outlets such as Nintendo DS and PSP Go and eventually to consoles like PS3.
