Robosapien To Star In New Feature

The feature film rights for Robosapien robot have been sold to producing team Avi Arad of Arad Productions and Steven Paul of Crystal Sky Pictures. WowWee Group, an Optimal Group company, owns the rights.

In collaboration with WowWee, Arad has developed the lead character for the film from graphic designs created by WowWee and Arad.

The Robosapien robot is the recipient of over 30 national and international toy awards and recognitions and has been featured countless times in the media with notable write-ups in TIME MAGAZINE, NEWSWEEK, THE NEW YORK TIMES, ABC NEWS, AND U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT.

The movie, titled ROBOSAPIEN: REBOOTED, is set to combine a compelling live action story with the most advanced CG.

Robosapien is one of the most popular entertainment robots in the world with global sales of more than 5 million units and was the first commercially-available biomorphic robot -- a fusion of technology and personality -- and the inspiration for the principal screen character in the film.

Under the agreement, WowWee will have the exclusive worldwide right to market toy merchandise associated with the film and its characters, and would receive a share of the income from all other merchandising associated with the film.

Arad, former CEO and Chairman of Marvel Studios, is renowned in the toy industry and was a driving force behind the enormously successful resurgence of movies based on comic book characters.

As an executive producer and producer, his credits include SPIDER-MAN, SPIDER-MAN 2, and SPIDER-MAN 3 (Columbia Pictures), X-MEN, X2: X-MEN UNITED and X-MEN: THE LAST STAND (Twentieth Century Fox); THE HULK (Universal Pictures); DAREDEVIL (New Regency); THE PUNISHER (Lions Gate Entertainment); BLADE, BLADE II and BLADE: TRINITY (New Line Cinema); ELEKTRA (Twentieth Century Fox); THE FANTASTIC FOUR and FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER (Twentieth Century Fox); BRATZ: THE MOVIE (Lionsgate); and GHOST RIDER (Columbia Pictures).
