Hideo Nakata, director of the horror classic RINGU, will helm the supernatural thriller, VOICE FROM THE STONE, reports VARIETY. Adapted from an Italian novel by Mark Wheaton, the story follows a psychologist who begins treating a boy who has vowed not to speak until his dead mother returns. The twist is the spirit of the mother is trying to possess the body of the doctor.

Dean Zanuck, Stefano Gallini-Durante, Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur are the producers.

Late spring or early summer has been set for the start of production.
