Theatergoers are still sweet on SWEET HOME ALABAMA, which stayed in second adding $14.1M, for a total of $84.5M. Two new releases – the romance BROWN SUGAR and the action flick THE TRANSPORTER, took third and forth, with $11M and $9.1M, respectively. Action comedy THE TUXEDO, with visual effects by Sony Pictures Imageworks, fell to sixth in its third week, bringing in $7M for a $37M gross. Despite expanding to 234 additional theaters, JONAH: A VEGGIETALES MOVIE couldn't ward off the competition and dropped to eleventh place. The family-friendly film earned $3.8M for a total of $11.1M to date. It will be expanding into wide release next weekend. In other animated film news, POKEMON 4EVER debuted on 249 screens to the tune of $675,000 and 18th place, just edging out SPIRITED AWAY, which continued its slow roll-out by adding an additional 41 theaters this weekend. The film earned $623,000 for a four-week cume of $2.7M. Box office information obtained from yahoo.com and boxofficemojo.com.
