Sony released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Aardman Animation’s forthcoming animated feature, The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The featurette showcases the stunning work from the people at Aardman, while revealing how difficult it is to put together a stop-motion film of this size. The Pirates! Band of Misfits is Aardman’s first 3D stop-motion film, and Peter Lord’s first film as a director since Chicken Run. The film features the voices of Hugh Grant, Martin Freeman, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, David Tennant, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, Ashley Jensen, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, Brian Blessed, Lenny Henry, and Imelda Staunton.

The Pirates! Band of Misfits is based in part on Gideon Defoe‘s book “The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists.” Look out for The Pirates! Band of Misfits in theaters on March 30, 2012.
