Warner Bros. is looking for one top director to helm its single story feature adaptation of TWILIGHT ZONE, reports Variety. The names that are on the studio's short list include Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay, Alfonso Cuaron, David Yates and Rupert Wyatt.

The trade pub says Nolan is the top choice at this time, but his time is key. Warner Bros. wants to work with Bay, but the TRANSFORMERS filmmaker is readying the black comedy PAIN AND GAIN, which might limit his schedule. Cuaron, who is finishing up production on GRAVITY, has the most open schedule of the top three contenders. Yates was in the mix, but is unlikely to get the job and Wyatt is the outsider looking in.

Appian Way's Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Michael Ireland are producing. Jason Rothenberg penned the top-secret script, which is not based on any one episode of the series, but touches on many of the themes the series dealt with.

The series was previously turned into an anthology feature in 1983 with Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, John Landis and George Miller at the helm of each segment.
