Ang Lee’s The Life of Pi based on the book by Yann Martel, is nearing its November release. In anticipation, the very first clip from the film has been released.

Life of Pi, from Twentieth Century Fox, follows an Indian boy named Pi (Suraj Sharma), a zookeeper’s son who finds himself in the company of a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and a Bengal tiger after a shipwreck sets them adrift in the Pacific Ocean.

The scene, an extension of the stunning film trailer released earlier this summer, includes an introduction from director Lee. In the scene, Pi and the tiger face off in a tense moment over a fish before being bombarded by waves of flying fish.

Also starring Rafe Spall, Gerard Depardieu, Irrfan Khan and Adil Hussain, Life of Pi opens in 3D November 21st.
