LAIKA has picked up the rights to WILDWOOD, the illustrated fantasy novel from Decemberists lead singer Colin Meloy and his illustrator wife Carson Ellis, reports Variety. Set in an alternative Portland, Oregon, the story follows a young woman who must venture into the Impassable Wilderness to rescue her kidnapped brother. The book is being planned as a trilogy and LAIKA hopes to launch a film franchise.
