Jackie Chan Enters Shaolin Temple Remake

Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Nicholas Tse and Fan Bingbing are teaming up for a remake of the kung-fu flick, SHAOLIN TEMPLE, reports VARIETY. Emperor Motion Pictures, China Film Group, Huayi Bros. Media Corp., Beijing Silver Moon Prods. and China Songshan Shaolin Temple Culture Communication Center will produce the film.

Benny Chan (NEW POLICE STORY) will direct. Cory Yuen (RED CLIFF, THE TRANSPORTER) will serve as action director.

The 1982 original starred Jet Li as the son of a slave worker to the evil general that usurped the emperor's throne. The young man escapes to the Shaolin Temple where he learns kung fu and sets out to kill his father's murderer with the help of the monks from the temple.

Production will start by year's end with the film set to hit theater in late 2010.
