THE IRON GIANT premieres
THE IRON GIANT will be honored Saturday morning at 10:30 am at Mann's
Chinese Theater in Hollywood when a supersized footprint (12' by 6') will
be presented by the filmmakers and stars in the forecourt of the historic
theater. (Because of prior commitments, the Giant will be unable to
attend.) Johnny Grant, the honorary mayor of Hollywood, will emcee the
event. Cast and crew will attend the film's premiere following the
presentation of the footprint. Among those in attendance will be the
celebrities lending their voices to the upcoming Warner Bros. animated
feature (including Vin Diesel, Eli Marienthal and others), plus the film's
director, Brad Bird, and producer Allison Abbate, as well as Danny DeVito,
Rhea Perlman, Wallace Langham (VERONICA'S CLOSET), brothers Andy, Joey and
Matt Lawrence, and Jonathan Penner (RUDE AWAKENING). Eagerly awaited, THE
IRON GIANT is about a 9-year-old boy named Hogarth who rescues a 50-foot
metal, childlike giant outside of the small town of Rockwell, Maine in
1957. The film will debut on Wednesday in New York and Los Angeles, and
then go into wide release on Friday, August 6, but fans throughout the
world can get a sneak peek of ten minutes from the film on the internet at
www.theirongiant.com beginning this Saturday night at 5 pm PST, and
continuing until midnight PST. On Sunday, sneak previews will be held in
theaters throughout the country. Check your newspapers for details. Also on
Sunday, at 7 pm EST, THE MAKING OF THE IRON GIANT will be broadcast on the
Warner Bros. network.
