IFC has acquired U.S. rights to VALHALLA RISING, the Viking-themed Danish actioner, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Directed by Nicholas Winding Refn, the film follows a silent warrior and his fellow captive who flee from an evil chieftain's prison and find themselves involved in bloody adventures.

The indie distributor will release the film next year.

Refn is the filmmaker behind the Sundance darling BRONSON. Universal has hired him to direct their updated version of DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE as well.
