The original Hansel and Gretel fable is already a dark story: abandoned children, witches and cannibalism. The film, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters takes an even darker and plunge into what happens when Hansel and Gretel stop laying breadcrumbs, grow up and start fighting back.

Fifteen years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident, siblings Hansel and Gretel, played by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.

The newly released movie trailer promises a revved up, 3D, suspenseful take on the tale:

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters was set to release in March 2012, but was pushed back until January 2013.
