French Version of Puss in Boots Coming
With DreamWorks SHREK franchise spinoff of PUSS In BOOT not coming until 2011, MK 2 will have its THE TRUE STORY OF PUSS IN BOOTS ready for 2009, reports VARIETY. The $24 million production is based the original story by French author Charles Perrault.
"We aren't jumping on the bandwagon," Nathanael Karmitz, MK2's md. "Our film has been in development for more than two years. It's just fortunate for us that we'll be ready first."
MK 2 is co-producing the film with Belgium's Nexus Factory and Switzerland's Saga Prods. Pascal Herold, founder and former head of vfx house Duran Duboi, and Jerome Deschamps, director of Paris' Opera Comique, are co-directing.
