Tied together from various sources, COMINGSOON.NET reports that John Woo's upcoming project FLYING TIGERS will star Tom Cruise. The project is being penned by Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote VALKYRIE, and Mason Alley.

The World War II drama would reunite Cruise and Woo after the pair worked together on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II.

Woo, who will be directing the project, will be shooting in China and the United States. Woo told COMINGSOON.NET that FLYING TIGERS is based on a true story about a group of American volunteer fighter pilots who worked with the Chinese Air Force fighting with the Japanese.
