Enemy At The Gates Falls To Fourth

In a weekend with lackluster results at the box office, ENEMY AT THE GATES fell from second to fourth, grossing $8.4 million. The WWII sniper saga, with primary visual effects by Das Werk, Die Nefzers, Double Negative, The Computer Film Company and AudioMotion Ltd., has accumulated $26.2 million thus far. Staying in the sixth spot was CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON which collected another $4.62 million. The Oscar winner for best foreign film, with primary visual effects by Blue Sky Studios, CFC/MVFX and Manex Visual Effects, has amassed $106.26 million. Racing into seventh, TRAFFIC scored $3.95 million. The drug czar drama, with primary visual effects by Cinesite, has smuggled in $107.7 million to date. In eighth, Warner Bros.' SEE SPOT RUN rounded up an additional $3.6 million. The pooch-in-trouble picture has sniffed out $29.48 million. At #13, HANNIBAL axed in another $1.92 million. The SILENCE OF THE LAMBS sequel, with primary visual effects by Mill Film, has fattened itself up on $160.1 million. Sinking from 14th to wash up in 16th place, CAST AWAY fished in an additional $1.05 million. The volleyball friendly flick, with primary visual effects by Sony Pictures Imageworks, has bundled up $229.1 million. Disney's RECESS: SCHOOL'S OUT dropped from 12th to 17th, grossing $984,061. The summer saving spectacle has drummed up $34.8 million to date. Other animated and special effects laden films finishing in the top fifty were: THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE at #22, with a gross of $310,494 and a cume of $87.32 million; 102 DALMATIANS at #31, with a gross of $150,441 and a cume of $66.66 million; CYBERWORLD 3D at #35, with a gross of $100,714 and a cume of $6.9 million; THIRTEEN DAYS at #36, with a gross of $96,389 and a cume of $34.47 million; UNBREAKABLE at #39, with a gross of $78,453 and a cume of $94.84 million; 3,000 MILES TO GRACELAND at #43, with a gross of $68,684 and a cume of $15.57 million; MONKEYBONE at #44, with a gross of $67,979 and a cume of $5.33 million; and RUGRATS IN PARIS at #46, with a gross of $67,396 and a cume of $76.46 million.
