Disney World is set to reopen a revamped Star Tours ride on May 20, reports Variety. The simulator ride was the first attraction launched by Disney that was not based on one their films. The original opened in 1987 at Disneyland and a Disney World version followed in 1989. The original version of the ride still runs at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris. For the new 3-D version called Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Walt Disney Imagineering has redesigned the Starspeeder, pilot and droids featured in the ride.
