Deadline.com reports that 20th Century Fox has hired TRAINING DAY scribe David Ayer to write a redux of COMMANDO. Erwin Stoff and John Davis are the producers.

Ayer, a former Navy officer, will give the new version a more realistic take, while still following the story of a retired special ops soldier who is forced to kill a dictator after his daughter is kidnapped. In the Arnold Schwarzenegger version, the post-TERMINATOR star used muscle to slaughter the bad guys, whereas the new soldier will use skill.
