With live-action comedy THE WEDDING PLANNER and drama SAVE THE LAST DANCE taking the top two slots respectively, CAST AWAY sunk to third with a gross of US$8.09 million. The island adventure, with primary visual effects by Sony Pictures Imageworks, has rescued $193.2 million to date. Next, TRAFFIC skidded into fourth with a gross of $6.46 million. The drug war saga, with primary visual effects by Cinesite, has dusted off $56.19 million thus far. Leaping from eighth to sixth, CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON dazzled audiences to the tune of $5.06 million. The epic romantic fantasy, with primary visual effects by Blue Sky Studios, CFC/MVFX and Manex Visual Effects, has garnered $44.43 million. Dropping from its fourth place debut to finish in seventh, SNATCH pilfered another $4.71 million. The heist comedy, with visual effects by Digital Film @ The Moving Picture Company, has stolen $15.71 million so far. Slipping out of the top ten to land in 12th place, THIRTEEN DAYS drummed up another $3.45 million. The Cuban missile crisis caper, with primary visual effects by Cinesite and Visual Concept Entertainment, has secured a total of $24.72 million. At #15, THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE danced in an additional $2.63 million. The llama laugher has collected $79.36 million. Other animated and special effects laden films finishing in the top fifty were: VERTICAL LIMIT at #21, with a gross of $581,754 and a cume of $66.51 million; 102 DALMATIANS at #23, with a gross of $367,915 and a cume of $63.9 million; DRACULA 2000 at #25, with a gross of $263,195 and a cume of $32.66 million; CHARLIE'S ANGELS at #26, with a gross of $252,154 and a cume of $124.7 million; RUGRATS IN PARIS at #28, with a gross of $213,916 and a cume of $74.91 million; CYBERWORLD 3D at #32, with a gross of $155,825 and a cume of $5.28 million; HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS at #33, with a gross of $155,625 and a cume of $259.5 million; UNBREAKABLE at #38, with a gross of $102,755 and a cume of $93.38 million; DUNGEONS & DRAGONS at #41, with a gross of $86,626 and a cume of $15.19 million; LITTLE NICKY at #43, with a gross of $68,731 and a cume of $39.44 million; and T-REX: BACK TO THE CRETACEOUS at #47, with a gross of $47,942 and a cume of $35.94 million.
