Cast Away Floats In Third

With live-action comedy THE WEDDING PLANNER and the debut of teen-horror flick, VALENTINE, taking the top two spots respectively, CAST AWAY floated into third for the second straight week, grossing another $7.47 million. The volleyball friendly film, with primary visual effects by Sony Pictures Imageworks, has accumulated $203 million to date. Jumping up yet another slot to finish fifth, CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON rescued an additional $6.82 million. The multiple Golden Globe winner, with primary visual effects by Blue Sky Studios, CFC/MVFX and Manex Visual Effects, has garnered $52.98 million. Dropping two slots to sixth, TRAFFIC smuggled in $6.3 million. The drug war saga, with primary visual effects by Cinesite, has piled up $64.78 million so far. In ninth, SNATCH stole an additional $4.01 million. The crime comedy, with visual effects by Digital Film @ The Moving Picture Company, has pilfered $21.75 million so far in the U.S. Dropping to 16th place, THIRTEEN DAYS secured $2.81 million. The Cold War drama, with primary visual effects by Cinesite and Visual Concept Entertainment, has locked down $28.4 million. At #14, apocalyptic Christian actioner, LEFT BEHIND collected $2.16 million in its first week in theaters. THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE buddied up with another $1.99 million in 19th place. The animated laughter has drummed up $81.86 million so far. Other animated and special effects laden films finishing in the top fifty were: VERTICAL LIMIT at #24, with a gross of $541,918 and a cume of $67.24 million; 102 DALMATIANS at #26, with a gross of $321,243 and a cume of $64.09 million; RUGRATS IN PARIS at #33, with a gross of $165,607 and a cume of $75.1 million; DRACULA 2000 at #34, with a gross of $161,604 and a cume of $32.91 million; CYBERWORLD 3D at #36, with a gross of $155,825 and a cume of $5.48 million; CHARLIE'S ANGELS at #37, with a gross of $155,360 and a cume of $125 million; HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS at #38, with a gross of $143,925 and a cume of $259.7 million; and UNBREAKABLE at #44, with a gross of $67,073 and a cume of $93.5 million.
