Blur Squeezes Out Ride Film For SpongeBob
Blur Studio has been contracted by Paramount Parks to produce a stereoscopic, computer-animated ride film based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS. The attraction is slated to debut at Paramounts North American theme parks in the first quarter of 2003. Park patrons will don 3D glasses to experience the film in three dimensions. Blur Studios animation team will work directly with Nickelodeon in adapting the SpongeBob characters to the ride format. The characters will be executed as computer animation while retaining the look of the cel-animated cartoon series. Blur Studio is also producing a computer animated pre-show film. SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS is the latest in a string of recent theme park films to come from Blur Studio, a world leader in the field. The studio is also currently in production on a ride film based on the MGM television series STARGATE for Bremen Space Park in Germany. Blur also recently produced a ride film based on BATMAN and a theme park attraction film based on the Jim Carrey film THE MASK, for the newly-opened Six Flags Warner Bros. Movie World in Madrid, Spain. The studio's previous work for Paramount Parks includes STAN LEES 7TH PORTAL 3D SIMULATION EXPERIENCE, another stereoscopic ride film.
