The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences has announced their nominations for the coveted Oscar award. Receiving nominations for best animated short were Ruairi Robinson’s 3D meditation on suicide FIFTY PERCENT GREY, Cathal Gaffney’s "animated documentary" GIVE UP YER AUL SINS, Pixar’s latest 3D short FOR THE BIRDS, Joe Merideth’s caveman comedy STUBBLE TROUBLE and Cordell Barker’s tale of otherworldly love STRANGE INVADERS. These films are featured on AWN with QuickTime clips, pictures and information about the films and directors. For the first time, the Academy is presenting an award for Best Animated Feature Film and we have stories and images from all three nominees: JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS, MONSTERS, INC. and SHREK. As usual, you can vote for which film in both categories you think should be the big winner on awards night. We will announce our winner the day of the Oscars and see if the knowledgeable readership of AWN is right on target. Visit the AWN Oscar Showcase, learn more about the nominees and cast a vote today!
