Several films have been pulled or delayed from release in Japan as a response to the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the country on Friday, reports Variety. Warner Bros. pulled Clint Eastwood's HEREAFTER due to its realistic opening tsunami scene. The film opened in Japan on Feb. 19 and was still in the top ten there.

Additionally, Warner Bros. decided to push the opening of THE RITE over both content and logistic concerns. The company believes the film's dark tone was not appropriate at this time. Additionally, with gasoline shortages, getting prints to theaters might be difficult. The film was set to open this week.

Shochiku has delayed the release of its Chinese blockbuster AFTERSHOCK. The film follows the aftermath of the Great Tangshan Earthquake in 1976. The film was set to arrive in Japanese theaters on March 26.

Toei Animation has decided to cut a tsunami scene from its film PRETTY CURE ALL STARS DX3. The tenth film in the popular series will debut in theaters on March 19.
