Film Roman Wins First Grammy Award For Music Video

Film Roman Inc. won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video at the 4th Latin Grammy Awards, held September 3, 2003 in Miami. The award was for FRIJOLERO, from Surco /Universal Music Latin artist Molotov.

It is the first Grammy for the 19 year-old studio, which has already won 18 Emmys and produces the hit series THE SIMPSONS, KING OF THE HILL, FREE FOR ALL and X-MEN: EVOLUTION. IDT Medias Digital Production Solutions recently acquired a majority share of Film Roman.

Directed by Paul Beck and Jason Archer, FRIJOLERO was produced for Film Roman by Kathee Schneider and John Hyde. The video was created using software created by Texas-based computer artist Bob Sabiston (WAKING LIFE), which allows artists to paint over digital footage using interpolated rotoscoping.

"This is a terrific honor, both for Film Roman, and for a breakthrough piece of animation," said Hyde, ceo of Film Roman. "We are proud that the industry has recognized our efforts and we want to thank Yvonne Gomez and everyone at Surco/Universal Music Latin for bringing the project to us.

Additional credits include production manager Elaine deMari, animators Steven Fahey, Mario Alecse, David Zweig, Jay Brockman and Michele Schneider; and post supervisors Michele Boyett and Felix Sanchez. Yvonne Gomez was producer for Surco/Universal Music.
