Film Roman Acquires TV Rights To Deity

Film Roman, Inc. has acquired the television rights to the comic book series, DEITY, by creators Karl Altstaetter and Robert Napton, from LA-based media company Hyperwerks Entertainment. Film Roman plans to develop DIETY into an animated primetime television series. Set in the Los Angeles of the future, a seemingly normal teenage girl named Jamie discovers she is to become a "Deity," or ruler of the universe. Jamie joins with three adventurers to fight her nemesis, Ma'Shiva. The comic book debuted in 1998 and is currently distributed by Image Comics. Film Romans president of programming and development, Peter Schankowitz, who will oversee the project said, "Comic book adaptations are exploding at the moment and the impact on the industry is profound. We look forward to bringing DEITY to life and certainly feel its main character, Jamie, has all of the ingredients of a young hip breakout super heroine!" Film Roman is also in production on their new 3D animated series, TRIPPING THE RIFT, that will debut on the SCI-FI Channel in early 2003.
