Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Michael Powell will address top public policy issues facing the consumer technology industry during a "One-on-One" discussion with Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) president and ceo Gary Shapiro at the 2004 International CES. The session will take place on Jan. 9 at 7:30 am in the Las Vegas Convention Center Room N257. The 2004 International CES runs Jan. 8 11, 2004. Topics of discussion will include transition to digital television, broadband deployment, consumer home recording rights, spectrum management and other key issues under consideration by the FCC.

In addition, top members of Congress will participate in a Congressional Panel at the 2004 CES on Jan. 9 at 3:00 pm. CEA vp of technology policy Michael Petricone will moderate the panel including Tom Davis (R-VA), Norman Coleman (R-MN) and Joe Barton (R-TX) as they discuss major technology policy issues facing the new Congress. Public policy activities at the CES take on an international focus on Jan.10 at 10:00 am during the inaugural International Leaders in Technology Forum.
