Family Channel Obsessed with Pucca

Astral Media's Family Channel has announced that the new flash-animated comedy-adventure series PUCCA will debut on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at 7:20 am.

Pucca, the energetic and mischievous daughter of a Chinese restaurant owner, is hopelessly in love with Garu, a serious 12-year-old ninja-in-training. Cheerfully she helps run the family restaurant with her three chef guardians, who continually give her misguided advice on life and love, but her sole mission is to gain Garu's attention. Garu, on the other hand, has no time for the frivolous Pucca as he battles invading ninjas, protects his village and works to restore his family's name after his father, a great warrior, was wrongly dishonored and destroyed.

Originally developed as a series of e-cards, Pucca has grown into a wildly popular international merchandise brand, comprising more than 3,000 products available worldwide, and Internet shorts. Geared towards kids 6-11, the series is produced by Studio B Prods. in associations with Disney's Jetix. The 26 half-hour episodes are exec produced and created by Boo Kyoung and Calvin Kim and directed by Greg Sullivan.
