Fabric Engine 2.3 Launching at SIGGRAPH 2016

Fabric Engine user group meeting to be held July 26; joint presentation with Oculus Story Studio at DigiPro demonstrating how characters rigged with Fabric can add realism to VR experiences within Epic’s Unreal Engine takes place July 23.

MONTREAL, QC -- Fabric Software will launch Fabric Engine 2.3 at SIGGRAPH later this month. The new release will be showcased at the Fabric Engine user group, which will feature sessions covering VFX & Games, Architectural & Design Visualization and Virtual Reality (VR). In addition, the Fabric team will give a joint presentation with Oculus Story Studio at DigiPro, showing how characters rigged with Fabric can add realism to VR experiences within Epic’s Unreal Engine.

Fabric User Group

The Fabric Engine user group takes place on Tuesday July 26, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, at the Anaheim Convention Centre (Room 201B). Sessions will be dedicated to new and forthcoming features for Fabric Engine, as well as demonstrating the “Fabric for Unreal” pipeline. The team will also host a rigging workshop featuring Kraken 1.2, Fabric’s cross-platform rigging solution, as well as customer presentations from Double Negative, MPC and Psyop.

Fabric for VR on Booth 375

The team will be at the Fabric booth (375) to show developers and artists how they can get their assets quickly and easily into Unreal Engine via the “Fabric for Unreal integration, showcasing the pipeline for architectural and design visualization as well as the pipeline for film, TV and games. Interested parties can come to the booth and try the VR experience for themselves.

Fabric is giving a joint presentation with Oculus Story Studio at DigiPro on Saturday July 23, entitled “Portable Real-Time Character Rigs for Virtual Reality Experiences.”

SIGGRAPH Talks

Fabric Engine will be featured in presentations by MPC and Double Negative as part of the SIGGRAPH Talks series:

  • Dancing Trees Monday July 25 9:00-10.30 am

The team from MPC will give two presentations about the work they did for The Jungle Book, entitled Can’t See the Jungle for the Trees and The Trees from ‘The Jungle Book’

  • Building Character Tuesday July 26 2:00-3:30 pm

The Double Negative team will present “A Flexible Rigging Framework for VFX and Feature Animation.
