Everybody At The Movie Theater Was Kung Fu Fighting

DreamWorks' animated KUNG FU PANDA hauled in $60.24 million (actuals) at the weekend box office ending June 8, winning its opening weekend. Special effects on the Jack Black-led comedy were by PDI DreamWorks.

Adam Sandler's YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN (Sony, vfx by The Orphanage, Gentle Giant Studios, Lola Visual Effects and Stan Winston Studio) laughed its way to an expected No. 2 with $38.53M in its opening weekend.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL (Paramount, vfx by ILM, Gentle Giant Studios and Stan Winston Studio) swung in (by vine, of course) to third place with $22.794M for a three-week cume of $253.01M.

New Line's chick flick hit SEX AND THE CITY (vfx by Big Film Design) dropped to fourth with $21.22M and $99.18M in two weeks.

Thriller THE STRANGERS (Rogue Pictures) came in fifth place with $8.94M and $37.298 over two weeks, not bad for a film whose budget was an estimated $9M.

Paramount's IRON MAN (vfx by ILM, The Orphanage, The Embassy, Gentle Giant Studios, Lola Visual Effects, Pixel Liberation Front and Stan Winston Studio) did $7.48M for a sixth place finish. The Robert Downey Jr.-led comic book actioner is now working on a $300 million gross, doing almost $288.8M over six weeks.

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN (Disney, vfx by Moving Picture Company, Framestore CFC, Baseblack, Escape Studios, Giant Studios, Rising Sun Pictures, ScanlineVFX and Weta Digital) earned $5.66M and $125.978M in four weeks for seventh place.

Comedy WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS (Fox earned eighth place and $3.44M for a five-week cume of $72.27M.

Universal's BABY MAMA stuck around for ninth place and $806,750 with $57.93M over seven weeks.

Six weeks into its run, Sony's MADE OF HONOR earned $804,055; $44.69M cume and 10th place.
