co-hosting the ASIFA-East Animation Festival for a one-night showing.
FableVision's award-winning animated shorts THE BLUE SHOE and LIVING

Yuri Norstein and Nina Shorina visit US

Russian animators Yuri Norstein and Nina Shorina are visiting the US.
ASIFA-Hollywood will host a reception for Yuri Norstein on Thursday,
October 21, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. at ASIFA-Hollywood's Animation Center,
located at 721 South Victory Blvd., in Burbank.
There is no charge to attend this reception. However due to limited

Philip Weiss Auctions, in conjunction with The Big Apple Comic Art
Convention, is overseeing a large animation art auction that will take
place on Friday, November 12, 1999 at 7 pm in New York City at the
Metropolitan Pavilion. Thousands of pieces of animation art are being
auctioned to benefit The American Foundation for the Visual Arts. Previews
of the auction items will begin at 1 pm on November 12. The auction is part

John Canemaker lectures on storyboards and their creators

John Canemaker, animation historian and author, will lecture on Disney
Studio storyboards and their creators at the Museum of Modern Art in the
Titus II Theatre. The presentation will include slides of storyboard
drawings and clips from famous Disney films, such as SNOW WHITE and 101
DALMATIANS. At 5:30 pm, preceding the lecture, Canemaker will sign copies
of his new book, PAPER DREAMS: THE ART AND ARTISTS OF DISNEY STORYBOARDS,
which will be available for purchase at the theatre and the MOMA bookshop.

Ray Harryhausen will appear at the REZNHEDZ Model and Toy Show at the
Hillside Holiday Inn just outside Chicago on October 9 and 10. The Chicago
International Film Festival is also sponsoring two events in conjunction
