Scary, Silly and Spooky Halloween at The Walt Disney Family Museum

The Presidio, San Francisco, CA (September 1, 2011) – Making the scary and spooky a little bit silly was a Walt Disney favorite, especially in his early animated shorts. To celebrate Halloween, The Walt Disney Family Museum presents HallowScreen! featuring nine cartoon treasures on the big screen in the Museum’s Fantasia-inspired theater, October 29-31, 2011.

Then on October 30, put on a favorite costume and join the Halloween Spooktacular for family designed frightful fun for just $2 per person. Enjoy from 1-4pm with crafts, such as skeleton making; games, including pin-the-skull-on-the-skeleton; a ‘spooky walk’ and an ‘everyone wins’ costume parade.

Featured HallowScreen! shorts were created from 1929 to 1952, featuring breakthrough animation techniques and some of Walt’s most beloved characters including Pluto, Mickey and Mr. Toad. The hour-long presentation is only $7 for adults and $5 for children. HallowScreen! is presented October 29-31 at 11am, 1, 3, 4 and 5pm. Films include:

·         The Skeleton Dance, 1929            
·         The Goddess of Spring, 1934
·         Hell’s Bells, 1929             
·         Night on Bald Mountain (section of Fantasia), 1940
·         Pluto’s Judgment Day, 1935       
·         The Mad Doctor, 1933
·         The Old Mill, 1937          
·         The Adventure of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, 1949
·         Trick or Treat, 1952

ABOUT THE MUSEUM
The Walt Disney Family Museum presents the fascinating story and achievements of Walt Disney, the man who raised animation to an art, transformed the film industry, tirelessly pursued innovation, and created a global and distinctively American legacy. Opened in October 2009, the 40,000 square foot facility features the newest technology and historic materials and artifacts to bring Disney’s achievements to life, with interactive galleries that include early drawings and animation, movies, music, listening stations, a 14-foot model of Disneyland and much more.

Hours: 10am to 6pm, Wednesdays through Monday; closed on Tuesdays, January 1, Thanksgiving Day, and December 25.

Tickets: $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $12 for children ages 6 to 17; Admission is free for members.
