Cartoon Network Latin America and the ATP, with the support of La Federacion Mexicana de Tenis, play host to Cartoon Network SMASH Tennis in Mexico starting April 28, 2001. The international touring program, designed to introduce kids to tennis, is hitting Mexico for the first time and features many of Cartoon Network Latin America’s most recognizable cartoon characters. The event takes place at Six Flags theme park in Mexico City on April 28 and 29; May 5 and 6; and May 12 and 13, 2001, each day from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Cartoon Network SMASH Tennis program includes a specially prepared mini-court for kids. Teaching pros and Cartoon Network characters will be on hand to help children learn the game and capitalize on their tennis playing ability. Cartoon Network SMASH Tennis is one part of an industry-wide initiative to grow the game. In the last four years, the TIA and the USTA have provided free tennis lessons to more than 400,000 people in over 400 cities, as part of the USA Tennis Plan for Growth.
