The American Cinematheque presents The 2nd Annual Festival of Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction. This 13 day festival includes 28 features, 9 shorts and many rare trailers from thirteen different countries including: Australia, Brazil, Czechoslovakia, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Highlights include: new work from Italian horror maestro Dario Argento (SLEEPLESS); a pair of stunning new Japanese anime films (METROPOLIS and VAMPIRE HUNTER D - BLOODLUST); two startling revisionist horror films from England (BLOOD and DEAD CREATURES); a cross-genre international shorts program; STARWOIDS, a new documentary about the STAR WARS fans who waited 42 days in line to be the first to see EPISODE 1; a sci-fi, fantasy and horror trailer show; a tribute to British sci-fi and horror legend Val Guest (THE CREEPING UNKNOWN); an ultra rare Mexican horror double-feature; plus hidden treasures from Czechoslovakia, Poland, Australia and Hong Kong. In-person guests include: actor Steve Railsback, Patrick Macnee, directors Joe Dante and Val Guest and Tope Hooper, plus Dennis Przywara (STARWOIDS) and short filmmakers Eric Anderson, Tanya Reihill, and Suk Yee Cheung. Additional guests announced as they are confirmed. All guests are subject to their availability. All screenings are at the newly renovated Lloyd E.
