‘Europeman’ Short Film Competition Issues Call for Entries

Animated short film competition is aimed at encouraging students in the field of animation to use their creativity to represent situations relating to European citizenship.

Europeans without Borders and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival have issued a call for entries for Europeman, an animated short film competition aimed at encouraging students in the field of animation to use their creativity to represent situations relating to European citizenship.

Europeans without Borders is organizing this competition purely for non-profit purposes. There will be no commercial exploitation of the short films produced by the students, although the winning short film will benefit from wide European promotion on social media, and potentially on TV channels as well. It may also be translated into the main European languages and used in particular during national election campaigns in each country of the European Union. It should have a significant impact on a target audience of 18-to-35 year-olds and allow them to contribute to an online interactive discussion on the issues of European democracy and citizenship.

Screenplay examples have been provided, but students are encouraged to propose alternative screenplays in line with their personal convictions, provided that they focus on European citizenship, and that their message is consistent with the values of the European Union.

Current and former students of European animation schools are eligible to participate in the competition. Applications are simple (storyboard and graphic board) and prizes include four € 1,000 prizewinners and one € 10,000 prizewinner.

The deadline for entries is August 31, 2015.

See entry rules and submission requirements here: europeman.eu.
