In a 60-page suit, Protocol Pictures partners Tony Leech and Brian Inerfeld are seeking $50 million from The Weinstein Co. over their dismissal from the animated feature ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH, reports Deadline.com. The suit filed in New York State Supreme Court alleges Harvey and Bob Weinstein are out of control and offered Leech and Inerfeld $500,000 in hush money to hold back the suit until after the Oscars.

Weinstein lawyer Bert Fields of Greenberg, Glusker, Fields, Claman & Machtinger LLP called the suit frivolous and alleges Leech and Inerfeld tried to extort money out of the Weinsteins with claims of "going public" with false claims. He also said the duo were paid $2 million as their contract stipulated and were removed from the project because they did not want to make the film The Weinstein Co. wanted.
